'Wednesday' Season 2 Will Feature a Slasher-Inspired Episode

Netflix’s hit series Wednesday is set to return with a thrilling second season, and fans can expect a darker, more horror-driven storyline. Actress Jenna Ortega, who plays the iconic Wednesday Addams, recently revealed in an interview with Collider that one of the upcoming episodes will pay tribute to classic slasher films.

Ortega, who has previously starred in horror films like X and Scream, confirmed that season two will embrace its horror elements even further.

“There’s a full episode inspired by slashers in season two. We’re making a lot of references to the horror genre. This time around, we had more confidence and were able to create bigger and more elaborate scenes, which is great.”

This revelation has sparked excitement among horror enthusiasts, as the Addams Family spin-off was already known for its gothic aesthetic and eerie storytelling. By incorporating slasher elements, the new season aims to elevate the suspense and thrills.

One of the major changes in season two is a reduced focus on romantic storylines. Ortega had previously hinted that the show would prioritize horror and mystery over teenage romance, a move that aligns more closely with Wednesday’s independent and sharp-witted personality. Fans of the first season who appreciated its darker moments will likely welcome this shift in narrative focus.

Potential for a Third Season?

Although Netflix has not officially greenlit a third season, Ortega mentioned that the show’s writers are already brainstorming ideas.

“We haven’t received an official go-ahead yet, but I know the writers are working on it. With a show like this, you always want to stay one step ahead, so they’re already exploring concepts.”

Given the massive success of the first season, it’s highly likely that Netflix will extend Wednesday beyond its second chapter.

The upcoming season will introduce several new faces to Wednesday’s world. The confirmed cast list includes legendary actors such as Christopher Lloyd (famous for playing Uncle Fester in the 1991 Addams Family film), Steve Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, Joanna Lumley, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Billie Piper.

Additionally, the show will delve deeper into the lives of Wednesday’s parents, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez Addams (Luis Guzmán), who will take on more prominent roles in the storyline.

With Netflix already teasing season two through cryptic promos, fans eagerly anticipate what’s next for Nevermore Academy’s most infamous student. The first season followed Wednesday as she honed her emerging psychic abilities while investigating a series of gruesome murders linked to her family’s past.

Season two promises to up the ante, featuring bigger horror set pieces, more intricate mysteries, and deeper explorations of the supernatural elements surrounding Wednesday’s world.

While Netflix has not yet announced an official premiere date for Wednesday season two, the show is expected to return later this year. The streaming platform has already released a short teaser hinting at Wednesday’s next adventure in the eerie town of Jericho.

As the show continues to refine its storytelling and embrace its darker themes, fans can look forward to an even more immersive and chilling experience in season two. Stay tuned for updates on the official release date and further details about what’s in store for Wednesday Addams and her macabre adventures at Nevermore Academy.
